Sleep Issues in Children with Autism
This presentation offers the opportunity to learn about how children develop sleep patterns, and why a sleep history is important as part of a treatment plan. Dr. Garcia will discuss potential causes of sleeplessness associated with autism and provide a review of the standardized treatment pathway for children on the spectrum.
Dr. Garcia is a board-certified sleep specialist at Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare. He works with patients (age 0-17) who have disabilities and associated sleep disorders. He uses a combination of behavior management, medications, surgery and other therapies in his practice. He has written extensively on childhood parasomnias, insomnia in youth, and sleep disordered breathing in childhood. He has lectured nationally on nearly all topics associated with pediatric sleep disorders. His professional associations include the American Board of Sleep Medicine and the American Board of Pediatrics.
- Date and Time: Tuesday, November 12th from 5:30pm-7:30pm. 5:30pm-6pm is our social hour, during this time attendees are encouraged to mingle and meet others who have a connection to autism. Food and wine will be available. 6pm-7:30pm is when we will have our presentation.

Partners Resource Nights are free and open to the public. They are designed to be an opportunity for parents, family members, caregivers, professionals, and community members to come together to learn more about autism and its impact on children and their families. The goal of these evenings is to equip attendees with valuable skills and expand their knowledge of autism and effective therapeutic approaches. Childcare is not provided for these events.
