Partners In Excellence in La Crosse to Celebrate Autism Awareness Month with a ‘Super’ Open House

La Crosse WI, (March 1, 2013)  Partners In Excellence in La Crosse is celebrating Autism Awareness Month with a ‘Super Hero’ Open House to be held Sunday, April 14th from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. at their new location at 901 Caledonia Street, La Crosse, WI.

The community is invited to this free event and encourages kids of all ages to join us wearing their favorite super hero costumes as they enjoy an afternoon packed full of free fun-filled activities. There will be a large bounce house, a ‘Super Hero’ Dig, carnival type games, photos taken with Super Heroes, and the entertainment of magician Sandy Murphy.  Tours will also be available for all community members wanting to learn more about the services and supports available to the La Crosse community and surrounding areas for families who have children with an autism diagnosis.

“The “Super Hero” theme of the Open House is in honor of the super powered efforts of our young clients who are on the spectrum and their families.  They work exceptionally hard every day to develop skills to achieve their maximum potential,” says Jackie Vick, Center Director. “It’s important for people in our community to know that help and support is here and available to them.”

According to the Centers for Disease Control, autism now affects 1 in 88 children in the United States.  Partners in Excellence is an autism therapy center that offers a set of effective treatment programs for children ages 1-10 years old diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder, a disease that is much more prevalent in boys, affecting 1 in 54.

The National Autism Society has been celebrating National Autism Awareness Month since the 1970’s.  The United States recognizes April as a special opportunity for everyone to educate the public about autism and issues within the autism community.
